This is the network version of the Diplomat jr protocol converter. It provides connectivity between Ethernet LANs and simple devices such as printers, terminals, PCs, modems etc. It can be configured by the user, via simple menus, to act as a Client or Server device or to behave as a remote Network Probe or Network Monitor. It comes supplied with its own power adaptor and user guide. |
|
Connections |
The Diplomat jrN protocol converter is fitted with both BNC plug, for connection to 10 Base 2 coax networks, and RJ45 jack for connection to 10 Base T networks using UTP cabling. The type of connector is automatically detected. Activity on the network is shown by a flashing yellow LED and a good 10 Base T connection by a green LED. The serial asynchronous port is a 25 pin female D-type wired as DCE for direct connection to terminals or printers. The Diplomat jrN protocol converter can also be supplied with a parallel printer port where high speed printing is required. A red LED shows when the unit is powered up. |
|
Protocols |
The Diplomat jrN supports the low level ARP and RARP protocols and the IP family of protocols (TCP/IP, UDP and ICMP). It supports the bulk of ICMP for control and diagnosis of network condition. In Server mode it can be configured to be a simple Telnet server. The setup menus may be accessed via the serial port. Built in ARP and ECHO functions can be used for Network Probe applications and a simple Network Traffic Monitor is provided. |
